Ridgeland, Miss. (February 13, 2012) – C Spire Wireless, the only wireless provider in the U.S. that offers personalized wireless services, today announced completion of a series of network improvements and expansion of its high-speed wireless mobile broadband services for 500,000 consumers and businesses along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

C Spire recently completed expansion of its mobile broadband coverage and other network improvements to 118 cell sites in Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, George, Pearl River and Stone counties as part of its continuing network expansion and investment efforts.

The $11.5 million network expansion and improvement program is designed to keep pace with explosive customer demand for high-speed data services, which have increased an average of 185 percent in the six counties during the last year.

C Spire has the highest smartphone penetration rate in the U.S. wireless industry and the company is committed to stay ahead of the explosive demand for high-speed mobile data services. “Our mission is to provide a personalized wireless experience that is uniquely designed for each individual customer and that starts with a robust, reliable network built for data,” said Kevin Hankins, chief operating officer for C Spire Wireless.

With smartphones, tablets and other mobile communications devices driving unprecedented demand for wireless access everywhere, C Spire is continuing to invest and expand its network to meet those needs and ensure an advanced broadband experience for everyone in the region, Hankins said. “Since we first launched wireless services in 1988 along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, we’ve built a reputation as the network you can count on and these steps show that we’re serious about that commitment.”

Besides expanding mobile broadband services, C Spire also has made significant boosts in network capacity, added new and upgraded cell sites, laid hundreds of miles of fiber optic cable and hundreds of enhanced backhaul connections in the six counties in the last 12 months.

Among other things, the improvements enable consumers and businesses to experience faster uploads and downloads and gain access to new and expanded mobile high-speed data services, including mobile video telephony, high-quality music and other multimedia applications.

With the addition of the latest coverage, advanced mobile broadband services are now available to nearly 4.7 million consumers and businesses across the company’s service area, Hankins said. Since 2003, C Spire has invested more than $1 billion in network infrastructure improvements.
